Childcare (Nanny/Babysitter) Job Description – 19.11.2023
We are looking for someone who wants to help parents provide the highest level of care for their children when they can’t do it themselves. You should have experience working with children and be knowledgeable about the needs of children of all ages. You will be responsible for offering nannying/babysitting for children of all ages and must keep them safe and happy at all times. Our childcare sitting service strives to provide high-level care while offering our employees a flexible schedule and great benefits, which include training, uniform and holiday pay.
Childcare responsibilities
o Travel to customers’ homes and care for their children based upon client instructions, which may be very detailed and must be followed exactly as given.
o Feed and hydrate children according to customer instructions regarding preparation, quantity and time of day.
o Entertain and play with children and ensure safety.
o Administer medications if required.
o Change nappies/assist with toileting.
o Document childcare with dates, times and services rendered in a neat and professional manner for owners to see (send by text or online portal).
o Meet with potential clients to secure business, advertise services provided and explain the details of how sitting works.
o Report any injuries or illnesses to parents and manager as soon as possible.
o Respect clients’ homes and personal property when on-site offering sitting services.
o Provide additional customer service as requested by clients, which may include doing children’s washing or washing dishes.
o Check and follow schedule provided by your manager and report any conflicts or issues to manager as soon as possible but at least 24 hours in advance of scheduled sitting appointment.
o Post professional content and photos to our social media channels if asked to.
o Opportunity for working on promotion – including social media, giving out leaflets, putting posters up.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Childcare (Nanny/Babysitter) Job Specification
Required:
o Must love working with children.
o Must be caring.
o Must demonstrate a history of reliability.
o Pass criminal background check (DBS).
o Experience in childcare required (own child experience and previous childcare experience are both acceptable).
o Be at least 18 years old.
o Have a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
o Ability to work varying schedules.
o Required ability to follow detailed instructions to the letter.
o Have a professional written and spoken manner.
Preferred:
o Childcare qualification (not essential)
o Previous experience.
o Ability to work weekends and holidays with occasional overnight hours.
o Business insurance on your car to transport children.
Hours
Ad hoc. Daytime/evening/weekend.
Pay
Starting at minimum for babysitting, over minimum for nannying.
Some jobs pay more, such as wedding childcare. Staff can earn more as they progress.
